Jens Soentgen was born in 1967 in Bensberg, Germany. He studied philosophy, and completed his doctorate on the concept of matter. He has taught Rhetoric and Philosophy at universities throughout Germany, and has worked as a guest Professor in Brazil. Since 2002 he has been Director of the Environmental Science Centre at the University of Augsburg. Jens Soentgen has worked for many years as science correspondent for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
