Peter Eigen
Peter Eigen was born in 1938 and for decades served as World Bank Manager of Programs in South America and Africa. Ten years ago he founded Transparency International to combat corruption worldwide. What began as a one room office with a telephone has developed into one of the most successful nongovernmental organizations with branches in 100 countries. In 2002 Transparency International received the Carl Bertelsmann Prize.
