Sibylle Berg was born and grew up in Weimar. She was a puppeteer before emigrating to the West in 1984. She studied for a short time at the Scuola Teatro Dimitri in Ticino, Switzerland and then held various jobs. She began writing at an early age and published her first articles as a columnist for the weekly German newspaper “Die Zeit”. Her first novel appeared in 1997, followed by subsequent novels and stories. Sibylle Berg lives in Zurich.
