Wolfgang Martynkewicz was born in 1955 and studied literature, psychology and sociology. He is an author and a lecturer in literature at the universities of Bamberg and Bayreuth. As part of a German Research Society project he edited the diaries of the writer Oscar A. H. Schmitz and has written on nineteenth and twentieth century literature as well as the history of psychoanalysis.
