Jenny Erpenbeck, born in 1967, pursued a degree in theatre studies at Humboldt University in Berlin. In 1989 she transferred to the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin, where she studied musical theatre production. In the 1990s she began her writing career alongside her work as a stage director. She is the author of narrative prose, stage plays and radio dramas. Jenny Erpenbeck lives as a freelance writer and stage director in Berlin.
