Michael Hampe, born in 1961, studied philosophy at Cambridge and Heidelberg as well as biology in Heidelberg. He then taught in Dublin, Kassel and Bamberg, and has been professor of philosophy at Swiss Technical University (ETH Zurich) since 2003, as well as a member of its Competence Center “History of Knowledge” (ZGW).
