Profile

Gerstenberg Verlag was founded in 1792 in St. Petersburg. It relocated to Hildesheim in 1797 and has remained a family business to today. After going through many changes, Gerstenberg has concentrated on young people’s literature since the early 1980s, but it has also made a name for itself in the area of picture books and narrative children’s literature, with a number of outstanding international authors and illustrators. For adults, Gerstenberg focuses on coffee-table books with illustrations and texts, but its “50 Classics” series has also long since assumed a firm place in the program.
