Michael Sowa was born in Berlin in 1945 and is one of the most well-known illustrators in Germany. Since getting his teaching degree in art in 1975, he has been working as a painter and illustrator. His artwork appears in the satirical magazine “Titanic”, in books, on book covers, and even on the silver screen (“Amélie”). Michael Sowa has received numerous awards, including the Olaf Gulbransson Prize in 1995 and the Berlin Book Prize in the category of children’s literature in 2004. He lives in Berlin.
