Publisher's profile Founded in 1966, Peter Hammer Verlag started as a
publisher mainly of literature from and about Africa and Latin America. Among
the most important authors are Chinua Achebe, Ahmadou Hampâté Bâ, Aniceti
Kitereza, Ahmadou Kourouma, Tierno Monénembo, Meja Mwangi, Ngugi wa Thiongo,
Gioconda Belli, Ernesto Cardenal and Eduardo Galeano. Today this part of the
programme is expanded by a considerable number of books from the field of
ethnology.
Besides that a remarkable list of children’s books has been established during the nineties. Especially the picture books by Wolf Erlbruch contributed to the worldwide reputation of this part of the programme. Meanwhile Nadia Budde, Wolf Erlbruch, Wiebke Oeser and Henning Wagenbreth have been frequently decorated by important prizes.
