Translation as an Art and as a Profession in 2012
Moscow
From September 12-18, 2012, the Goethe-Institut Moscow and Litrix.de organized a seminar focusing on the “Practice of Literary Translation” for aspiring literary translators. Ten participants from across Russia, all of whom are involved with the Litrix program, spent a week discussing the ins and outs of being a professional translator.
Apart from concrete work on texts, discussions turned to a wide variety of practical questions such as: the collaboration between translators and publishers, research options for translators, copyright issues and negotiating contracts. The seminar concluded with visits to major publishers in Moscow and a cultural program.
