Translation Workshop for Arabic translators
In November 2015, a weeklong translation workshop will be held in Cairo for Arabic translators translating from German, under the direction of renowned translators Hala Ghoneim (Egypt) and Cherifa Magdi (Egypt).
The workshop is organized by the Goethe-Institut Cairo and sponsored by Litrix.de during our current special focus on the “Arab World 2015-2017.” The workshop is open to a total of 8 participants and is conceived for translators from the Arab world who have prior experience in translating.
Prospective translators may apply with literary works, children's books or nonfiction projects. All projects must provide either a license contract or – at the very least - a license for the Arab book market is still available. During Litrix’s special focus on the “Arab World 2015-2017,” translators applying with titles from Litrix’s featured books will be given preference. We also would like to explicitly encourage translators who are working on philosophical, sociological and sociological projects to apply.
Application deadline is September 30, 2015
Duration of the Translation Workshop: Sunday, November 22, 2015 - Thursday, November 26, 2015
Location: Goethe-Institut Cairo, 5 Sharia El-Bustan, Downtown, 11518 Cairo, Egypt
All relevant information concerning the application and eligibility can be found here.
