Fifty years after 1968, author and journalist Gero von Randow talks with Egypt journalist and translator Samir Grees about revolts and revolutions from the ‘68 movement to the Arab Spring, about the politicisation of the personal and the fight against authoritarianism as well as the concept of revolution in German-speaking regions and in the Arab world.
 
Gero von Randow’s 2017 book Wenn das Volk sich erhebt. Schönheit und Schrecken der Revolution is presently being translated into Arabic as part of the Goethe-Institut’s Litrix Programme.
