Literary Discussion
Jul Łyskawa and Marius Goldhorn – two distinctive voices in contemporary European literature – come together in a German-Polish discussion on literature. Both describe, in their own ways, complex social phenomena and the multifaceted processes of understanding. Drawing on short excerpts from their latest novels, the authors discuss the unique impact of literature, its social responsibility, and its potential to open up new spaces for dialogue and opportunities for mutual understanding. Jul Łyskawa presents his multi-award-winning debut novel *The True Story of Jeffrey Waters and His Fathers*, whilst Marius Goldhorn offers insights into his novel *The Trials*, which explores identity, politics and digitalisation. Moderated by author and journalist Shelly Kupferberg, the discussion provides an opportunity to reflect on how literature can contribute to mutual understanding within the German-Polish and European contexts.
