Eckhart Nickel, born 1966 in Frankfurt, studied Art History and Literature in Heidelberg and New York. He was one of the five contributors to the book Tristesse Royale. Das popkulturelle Quintett (‘Tristesse Royale. The pop-cultural quintet’), having made his debut in 2000 with his collection of stories Was ich davon halte (‘What I think about it’). Together with Christian Kracht he produced the literary magazine Der Freund in Kathmandu. Today he writes for various publications including the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Die Zeit.
