Wolf Erlbruch

Wolf Erlbruch, born 1948, wrote and illustrated more than 30 picture books and more than 19 editions of his famous Kinderzimmerkalender (‘Nursery room calendar’). His lifetime’s work won him inter alia the Special Prize associated with the German Young Adult Literature Prize and the Hans Christian Andersen Prize. In 2017 the Swedish Arts Council awarded him the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, the world’s pre-eminent prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Up to his death in December 2022 Wolf Erlbruch lived throughout his entire life in Wuppertal.
