Ute Frevert

Ute Frevert, born 1954 in Schötmar, studied History and Social Science at the Universities of Münster and Bielefeld and at the London School of Economics. She gained her doctorate at the University of Bielefeld in 1982, and her ‘Habilitation’ in 1989. She was Professor of Modern History at the Free University of Berlin from 1991 to 1992, and at the University of Konstanz from 1992 to 1997. She was appointed Professor of History at the University of Bielefeld in 1997, and from 2003 to 2007 she was Professor of German History at Yale. In 2008 Ute Frevert became Director of the Centre for the History of Emotions at the Max Planck Institute for Educational Research in Berlin.
