Bajazzo Verlag

The Bajazzo Verlag was founded in Switzerland in 1998 by Ingrid Rösli and Thomas Minssen. Its authors and illustrators include Jon Fosse and Aljoscha Blau – who won the 2007 German Youth Literature Prize for Schwester (‘Sister’) – along with Christian Duda, Julia Friese, Doris Lecher and Manuela Olten. One book that has proved to be a long-term bestseller and children’s favourite is Martin Baltscheit’s Die Geschichte vom Löwen, der nicht schreiben konnte (‘The story of the lion that didn’t know how to write’), which since 2008 has been published by Beltz & Gelberg in their Minimax series. The Beltz Group took over the Bajazzo Verlag with effect from 1 January 2012 on the retirement of Ingrid Rösli and Thomas Minssen.
