Dressler Verlag

The Dressler Verlag is exceptionally rich in tradition and – with Erich Kästner and Cornelia Funke amongst its authors – it is one of Germany’s most prominent publishers of books for children and young adults. Originally called ‘Williams & Co.’, the company started out in 1928 with Anglo-Saxon classics: A.A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh and Hugh Lofting’s Dr. Dolittle were amongst its first publications and are still on its list today. Since 1971 the Dressler Verlag has belonged to the Oetinger publishing group. As before, its central focus remains on works that follow well-tried formulae in terms of both physical appearance and narrative style. The profile of the Dressler Verlag is accordingly characterised by globally renowned modern authors such as Cornelia Funke, Sabine Ludwig and Martin Baltscheit, alongside international children’s classics such as Huckleberry Finn and Mary Poppins.
