Hanser Berlin

Hanser Berlin, together with its offshoot ‘hanserblau’, constitutes the Berlin arm of the Hanser publishing company. Headed up by Lina Muzur, it offers an extensive and urbane list that is well attuned to the contemporary world and brings together exceptional and unique German and international voices in the fields of belles-lettres and non-fiction. The first of its regular lists appeared in autumn 2012, including such well-known names as Richard Ford, Ingo Schulze, Jan Wagner and Richard Sennett. Hanser Berlin’s assortment is characterised by political, intellectual and formally innovative debates on contemporary topics involving the likes of Svetlana Alexijevitsch, Richard Sennett, Maggie Nelson, Stephan Lessenich, Emilia Smechovski, Katja Kullmann and Daniel Schreiber, whose literary essay Allein (‘Alone’) became a bestseller. Poetry has been a central element of the assortment right from the outset, with writers such as Jan Wagner, Matthew Sweeney, Sylvia Geist, Björn Kuhligk and Tom Schulz.
