 Anja Tuckermann

Portrait

Anja Tuckermann was born 1961. In the eighties she founds the venue Mädchenladen Spandau [Girl Shop Spandau] in Berlin as well as the children's magazine Tigermädchen – Geschichten und Gedichte von Mädchen [Tiger girl – stories and poems for girls]. Since 1988 she works as a freelance writer and broadcast journalist. Furthermore she leads writing workshops and seminars for prose and drama for children, young people, and adults – e. g. at the Stuttgart State Theater, in Istanbul, Chennai/India, at schools, and at LesArt festival in Berlin.

Awards and Prizes (a selection)
  • 1992 Kurt Magnus Prize from ARD for the radio program Panther & Co – Muscha – eine Kindheit im Dritten Reich [Muscha – a childhood in the Third Reich]
  • 1995 The Red Scarf - the Youth Media Award from the SPD in Berlin-Charlottenburg for her novel Muscha
  • 2000 Hans-im-Glück Prize for the novel David Tage Mona Nächte [David by Day Mona by Night]
  • 2006 German Youth Literature Prize for non-fiction for Denk nicht wir bleiben hier! – Die Lebensgeschichte des Sinto Hugo Höllenreiner 2008
