Detlev Claussen is Professor of Social Theory, Cultural Studies and Sociology at the University of Hanover. He was born in Hamburg in 1948, and studied Sociology, Literature and Politics at the University of Frankfurt. He taught at universities in Hanover, Göttingen, Duisburg and Marburg. He was awarded his doctorate in 1975, and became a Professor in 1985.
