Frantz Wittkamp was born in 1943 in Wittenberg. He studied art and biology and currently lives in Lüdinghausen, where he and his wife also run a gallery (www.galerie-witt-kamp.de). He has spent the last 35 years painting, writing poetry, and writing children’s books. His children’s poetry, which is also highly regarded by adults, has won him numerous awards, not least the 1995 Austrian State Prize for Children’s Lyric Poetry.
