Born in France in 1944 to parents who were refugees from Hitler, Irene Heidelberger-Leonard is professor at the Free University of Brussels. Numerous publications on Jean Améry and on contemporary literature, including Günter Grass, Alfred Andersch, Jurek Becker, W.G. Sebald. Irene Heidelberger-Leonard is general editor of the edition of Améry’s works currently being published by Klett-Cotta.
