Iva Procházková was born in the Czech part of Czechoslovakia in 1953; after living in Germany from 1986 to 1995 she then returned to Prague. She has been writing children’s books for many years. She was awarded the German Prize for Children’s Literature in 1989, and in 1997 was nominated for the Hans Christian Andersen Medal. Her most recent books published by Sauerländer are Carolina — Ein knapper Lebenslauf (‘Carolina — A brief curriculum vitae’) and Elias und die Oma aus dem Ei (‘Elias and the granny who came out of the egg’).
