Manfred Mai, born 1949 in Winterlingen in Swabia, is regarded as one of Germany’s major children’s book authors. After taking a degree in history, politics and German he became a teacher, before devoting himself full-time to writing in 1984. Since then he has published some 150 books, ranging from picture books for very young children through to novels and non-fiction books for older children — some of which have been translated into twenty five different languages. Manfred Mai is married, and has two grown-up daughters. Nikodemus und das Mäusewunder [Nikodemus and the mouse of wonders] is his first book for Tulipan.
