Mark Terkessidis, born 1966, was editor of the magazine Spex, and currently works as a freelance writer concentrating on the topics of popular culture, racism, and the construction of identity. The two writers jointly edited Mainstream der Minderheiten — Pop in der Kontrollgesellschaft (‘Mainstream of the Minorities — Pop in a Control Society’), 1996, and Entsichert — Krieg als Massenkultur im 21. Jahrhundert (‘Safety Catch Off — War as Mass Culture in the 21st Century’), 2002. IN 2000 they also founded the Institute for Studies in Visual Culture (ISVC).
