Ulf Erdmann Ziegler was born in Holstein in 1959. He studied visual communication in Dortmund, and literature and psychology in Berlin. In the early 90s he was arts editor at the newspaper taz. He has written essays on art and photography. Hamburger Hochbahn (‘Hamburg overhead railway’) is his first novel. He is married and lives in Frankfurt.
