Willi Winkler was born in the Bavarian countryside in 1957 and studied in Munich and St. Louis. He has worked as a translator, editor for the newspaper “Die Zeit”, and head of the arts department at the magazine “Der Spiegel”. He currently writes for various media, including the daily newspaper “Die Süddeutsche Zeitung”.
