He studied Illustration at art school in Hamburg, and in 1994 studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee, Scotland. He has been working as a freelance illustrator and author since 1996. He has worked for various publishers, mainly those with a focus on children’s literature. He lives with his wife and two children, Carla and Knut, in Hamburg, which is also home to amAldi, the studio he shares with a number of other artists—it’s a long way from the jungle, but it’s not too far from the zoo, for which he has a season ticket.
