Rayk Wieland, born 1965, trained as an electrician, studied philosophy, and worked as a newspaper, radio and TV editor. Since summer 2009 he has lived in Shanghai and near Hamburg as an author and TV journalist. His most recent book was Öde Orte (vol. 1–3, with Jürgen Roth, Leipzig 2005). Until early 2009 he organized the “Toter Salon” in the Nachtasyl of the Hamburger Thalia Theater together with Gerhard Henschel, now run by Henschel and Richard Kähler.
