Thomas von Steinaecker, born 1977 in Traunstein (Bavaria), studied Literature in Munich and Cincinnati, and gained a doctorate with a thesis on literary photo-texts. He lives in Augsburg, and works as a freelance writer, film-maker, television director and journalist.
