Gerstenberg Verlag

The Gerstenberg Verlag is a family-run business based in Hildesheim that, thanks not least to Eric Carle’s Die kleine Raupe Nimmersatt (‘The Hungry Caterpillar’) und Rotraut Susanne Berner’s ‘Wimmelbücher’ (‘Bustletown books’), became one of the best known children’s book publishers, specialising in board books, picture books, fiction for children and young adults, and non-fiction for children. With its adult list Gerstenberg publishes high-quality coffee-table and non-fiction books in the domains of cultural history, gardening, nature, lifestyle, and food and drink. Gerstenberg is synonymous today with innovative books that are attractive in terms of both their content and their aesthetic appearance, and highly successful on the international market.
