It was through their political engagement that Hanna Mittelstädt, Lutz Schulenburg and Pierre Gallissaires wound up in publishing more than thirty years ago. In addition to publishing anarchists and Situationists, Nautilus has also published Dadaists and the Surrealists. Independent to this day, Nautilus publishes biographies, fiction and political non-fiction. With its detective novel series, Nautilus landed in 2007 its greatest success in terms of numbers: the two novels Tannöd and Kalteis sold 800,000 copies. That’s enough to ensure that the publisher’s overall agenda can remain what it’s been since the 1970s: unconventional, headstrong and full of fight.
