The Festival of Arabic Literature

The Arabic world is in upheaval. Literature often reacts to such changes with seismographic foresight: What ideas and images of society do the authors describe in their novels and poems? What language do they find to depict the world around them? How do they navigate between a sense of newly-won freedom on the one hand and increasing restrictions on the other? What challenges do publishers face? These questions will be discussed with authors, translators and publishers from Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Germany and Switzerland, during the “Festival of Arabic Literature”.
