Cairo

Within the framework of the Cairo Literature Festival and the current Litrix.de special focus on the "Arabic World 2015-2017," the author Anna-Katharina Hahn will read from her novel My Mother’s Dress (2016).

In her third novel, Anna Katharina Hahn boldly targets one of the most pressing problems of our times: My Mother’s Dress is a fantastic generational and romantic novel from the times of the Euro crisis and at the same time, it is poetic global theatre that moves between Spain, Berlin and Stuttgart. In the end, almost all the loose threads seem to point towards a writer shrouded in mystery, who is said to stop at nothing. But maybe this is also a mere illusion.

My Mother’s Dress will soon be published in Arabic translation by Sefsafa Publishing House, Cairo with the support of Litrix.de. The Egyptian translator, Ola Adel, will speak to the author about her novel and today’s literary scene in Germany.

Anna Katharina Hahn (b. 1970) studied German and English literature as well as folklore in Hamburg. She lives and works in Stuttgart. Hahn is considered one of the most important writers of her generation. Her novels have received numerous awards, including the Roswitha Prize of the City of Gandersheim and the Heimito of the Doderer Literary Prize.
