Terézia Mora was born in 1971 in Sopron, Hungary, as the child of an ethnically German family, and grew up there speaking both Hungarian and German. She moved to Berlin in 1990, where she completed a degree in Hungarian Studies and Theatre Studies at Humboldt University. She lives and works in Berlin as a freelance writer and translator.
