Bernd Stiegler, born 1964 in Meschede (Sauerland), studied Literature and Philosophy in Tübingen, Munich, Paris, Berlin, Freiburg and Mannheim. From 1999 to 2007 he was senior academic editor at the Suhrkamp publishing house. In 2007 he was appointed Professor of Modern German Literature at the University of Constance, where his chief research interest is the twentieth century's literature in a media context.
