Reiner Engelmann was born in Völkenrath in the Hunsrück region in 1952. After studying Social Education he worked in the school system, with a particular focus on the promotion of reading, the prevention of violence and awareness of human rights. He regularly organises study visits to Auschwitz. As an author he concentrates chiefly on major social issues.
