Rich in tradition and boasting a list of more than 300 titles, with around 40 new ones each year, the Hinstorff publishing house in Rostock offers a high-quality range under various heads including picture books, fiction, non-fiction, marine, cooking, children’s, audio books, and books written in Low German. Hinstorff celebrated its 175th anniversary in 2006.
The list of children’s books is a relatively new development, having only become a permanent feature of Hinstorff’s programme in 2002. Current output is six titles per year; almost all the titles published under this head so far have won prizes.
