Tyrolia Verlagsanstalt

The Verlagsanstalt Tyrolia is based in Innsbruck, and with its 21 bookshops in Tyrol, Salzburg, Vienna and Vorarlberg it is the biggest book business in Western Austria. It carefully fosters its more-than-one-hundred-years-old tradition as Austria’s most important publisher in the domain of religion and philosophy – while at the same time adding to it by publishing some 60 new books from different sectors every year, including climbing books, leisure guides, illustrated books on history, non-fiction books on contemporary history, monographs on art, cook books, and self-help books. Since 2014 Tyrolia has also offered a multi-award-winning series of books for children and young adults on a wide variety of themes. The backlist comprises some 1000 titles, all of them still available, while the translations of their books into more than 20 different languages serve to enhance Tyrolia’s reputation far beyond the country's borders. Auguste Lechner used to be the doyenne of Tyrolia’s books for the young, but their list now includes such present-day stars of the Austrian book scene as Helga Bansch, Heinz Janisch, Michael Roher and Leonora Leitl.
