Wagenbach Verlag

The publishing company was founded in 1964 by Klaus Wagenbach and has been headed by Susanne Schüssler since 2002.

The publishing company is independently owned and exercises its right to express its opinions openly at its own expense. It is not large, but is well-known. The goal is not to make a profit, but to focus on content:

We publish books out of conviction and pleasure, with care and earnestness. We want to discover unknown authors, keep classics of the modern alive, and make room for independent minds to generate new ideas. We publish literature, history, art and cultural history, politics in all the common European languages: Italian, Spanish, English, French, and, of course, German. Our books should be beautiful, out of affection to our readers and authors, and as a sign of protest to the throw-away mentality.
