Ammann Verlag

Ammann Verlag was a publishing house that has been established in the autumn of 1981. It set out from Zürich on a world trip, using manuscripts and books as its means of transport. Fernando Pessoa gave the publishing house its ticket, its passe-partout: “The best way to travel, after all, is to feel.” Travelling and feeling are movements, and their underlying motive is a combination of curiosity and imagination. That is what put Ammann Verlag on track, from Zürich and Switzerland via Germany to the whole of Europe and beyond, across all continents. Ammann Verlag published new literature in German and literature from around the world, as well as literary classics and poetry. It has published books by Thomas Hürlimann, Ruth Schweikert, Ralph Dutli, Thorsten Becker, Ulrich Peltzer, Marcel Reich-Ranicki, Wulf Kirsten, Julia Franck, Tim Staffel Ossip Mandelstam, Fedor Dostoevsky, Georges-Arthur Goldschmidt¸ John Cowper Powys, Ismail Kadare, Konstantinos Kavafis, Les Murray, Scott Bradfield and many other writers.

The publishing house was liquidated on the 30th of June 2010. The titles were transferred to other publishers.
