Ammann Verlag

The Ammann Verlag was founded in the autumn of 1981, and after starting out in Zurich engaged on a journey throughout the entire world, using books as its mode of travel. It acquired its travel ticket, in effect the ‘passport’ that gave it worldwide free passage, by basing itself on Fernando Pessoa’s dictum that ‘As a general rule we travel best if we do so by means of feeling’. Travel and emotion both entail movement, the spur to which is a mixture of curiosity and imagination, and the Ammann Verlag pursued exactly this mix, from Zurich and Switzerland to Germany and thence to all the continents of the world. The Ammann Verlag published new books written in German and literature from all over the globe, along with poetry and the classics.
The Ammann Verlag ceased publishing in 2010.
