International Translator’s Day at the Goethe-Institut Moscow

The Goethe-Institut Moscow is celebrating International Translator’s Day on September 30th and is hosting a variety of events in honor of the profession.
A roundtable of literary translators (19:00-20:30) will offer insights on translating books that had been promoted and funded during Litrix.de’s special focus on Russian in 2012-14:
Elena Smolonogina (Rolf Lappert, Pampa Blues)
Oleg Nikiforov (Bjung-Chul Han, Transparency Society)
Maria Zorkaja (Jonas Lüscher, Spring of the Barbarians and Peter Stamm, All Days Are Night)
and Albina Bojarkina (Andreas Tönnesmann, Monopoly).
The program also features a lecture entitled, “Thomas Mann in Russia: Translation and Reception” by Dr. Mikhail Rudnitzky; Happy Hour for aspiring translators; and a tour of the exhibition Thomas Mann: Stations of a great writer’s life at the Goethe-Institut Moscow.
