Nicolas Mahler on the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka‘s death
100 years after his death, Franz Kafka continues to be one of the most widely read German-language writers in the world. As part of a unique series of events that feature the Czech author, Austrian comic artist Nicolas Mahler will introduce his most recent work: “Completely Kafka” in conversation with Maria Paola Scialdone - Mahler’s comic biography humorously presents Kafka’s life and work in an inimitably trenchant fashion, without shying away from the really big questions: Why did Kafka’s plan to write a series of cheap travel guides fail? Who wrote: “The Retransformation of Gregor Samsa”, the sequel to one of his most important works? The answers to these questions and much more can be found in the volume “Komplett Kafka” (Suhrkamp Verlag, published in Italy as “A tutto Kafka” by Edizioni Clichy).
In collaboration with Edizioni Clichy.
The exhibition of the comic panels can be viewed in Italian translation at the Biblioteca Europea (Via Savoia 13, Rome) until December 20; the German version can be found at the Goethe-Institut Rome (Via Savoia, 15). School groups are welcome to visit the exhibition.
Language: German and Italian
Price: free admission
