Rolf Lappert, born 1958 in Zurich, trained initially as a graphic artist before deciding to become a writer. In the late 1980s he took a break from his writing career and set up a jazz club. From 1996 to 2004 he worked as a scriptwriter. After living for several years in Ireland, he returned to Switzerland in 2011, where he now lives as a freelance writer.
