Peter Stamm, born in 1963, shortlisted for the Man Booker International Prize 2013, had his international breakthrough with his debut novel Agnes in 1998. Since then his books have been translated into more than 30 languages. Stamm’s writing has been compared to Chekhov and Camus as well as American storytellers such as Raymond Carver, Richard Ford and Ernest Hemingway. His highly praised novel Seven Years, his "greatest literary achievement" (Tages-Anzeiger), has been sold into 15 territories. Peter Stamm lives near Zurich with his wife and two children.
