Wolfgang Ullrich, born 1967 in Munich, studied philosophy, art history, logic/science theory and German in Munich. In 1994, he earned his doctorate with a dissertation on Martin Heidegger's Late work and his Thoughts about the Event. In addition to holding positions as Lecturer at various universities, from 1997 - 2003, he was an assistant at the Institute for Art History at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, and in 2003-4, he was visiting professor for art theory at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg. In 2015, he resigned from his position as Professor for art studies and media theory at the Karlsruhe University for Art and Design, which he held since 2006. Since then he has been living as a freelance author based in Leipzig.
