dtv
dtv is one of the biggest general-interest publishers in the German-speaking world and it regularly features at the top of bestseller lists. Founded in 1960 originally as a purely paperback publisher for re-issues, dtv published its first nine titles in September 1961. Its first title – still in print today – was Böll’s Irisches Tagebuch (‘Irish Journal’). Today 70% of its output consists of original publications, and it produces some 400 books per year in all formats, from bound books through paperbacks to e-books. dtv’s wide-ranging assortment includes German-language and international belles-lettres, general literature, non-fiction, self-help books and children’s and young adult literature.
