Jungbrunnen Verlag

Jungbrunnen was founded in 1923 by the “Österreichische Kinderfreunde" organisation (Austrian Friends of Children). The intention was to produce high quality books for children and adolescents and offer them also to those children whose access to books was limited.

Thus Jungbrunnen developed a relatively clearly structured programme which has become more varied and colourful over the years. Jungbrunnen has always been a pioneer in publishing books on difficult topics which are nevertheless full of suspense. Some Jungbrunnen books have become "classics" and are now read by the third generation of children (e.g. Mira Lobe: “Die Omama im Apfelbaum" / "Das kleine Ich bin ich", also Vera Ferra-Mikura's "Stanislaus"-books).

The publishing house also established itself as a partner on an international level. Many of the books have been published in various countries. "Die Omama im Apfelbaum", for instance, has up to now been translated into 26 languages.
