NordSüd Verlag

NordSüd, a picture-book publisher rich in tradition, was founded in 1961 by Dimitri and Brigitte Sidjanski in Switzerland. Their distinguished list offers a broad range of thematically and artistically sophisticated picture books by both established and newer authors and illustrators from all over the world. Based in Zurich, NordSüd publishes original editions for the German-language market, while its American subsidiary NorthSouth Books caters for the English-language market with a range of books chosen from the company’s main list. NordSüd has been part of the Oetinger publishing group since mid-2009. Among the company’s most successful titles are Der Regenbogenfisch (‘The Rainbow Fish’) by Marcus Pfister and Lars, der kleine Eisbär (‘Lars the Little Polar Bear’) by Hans de Beer. Numerous artists have had substantial bodies of their work published by NordSüd. In more recent times the mouse adventures of Torben Kuhlmann have been a signature element in the company’s programme.
